Chief Executive Officer

I have known Mr. Zorbadakis in my previous capacities as :

  1. General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Aegean Airlines from 1998-2003 and 2003-2009 respectively and,
  2. Chief Executive Officer of the Olympic Air Group from 2009 to 2011. Michael was a senior member of the Aegean Airlines I.T. team, specializing with all kinds of Networks and Communications applications and systems.

Mr. Zorbadakis was managing at a senior level where he gradually rose in the ranks of the I.T. Department, a continually and rapidly growing Airline Support system, established from scratch in a very challenging environment involving initial Aegean Airlines’ establishment and expansion in Greece, with rudimentary and very limited local infrastructure, regulatory environment and support. His contribution was crucial in the development of all Aegean systems and subsystems, whether in-house or hosted, including planning, design and implementation of CRS, (Computer Res Systems-in co-operation with SITA at the time), DCS (Departure Control System-supporting full Self Handling systems, in both landside and airside at ALL Greek Airports where Aegean flew), E-Ticketing, E-Sales, all back-office functionalities and a number of other subsystems in support of all Aegean Departments including all Flight Ops, Tech and Maintenance Ops, Ground Station Ops and all Commercial functionalities, including call centres, customer support, interfacing with all operational suppliers, Interline interfacing, etc. On top of that Michael and his team were always eager and proactive in training all departments in all new systems introductions, cutovers, upgradings and such.

His performance and zeal were always exemplary and extremely reliable, even in the  most  difficult of circumstances, so much so that Michael was selected to the position of Deputy IT Director in the project of privatizing Olympic in the Olympic Air Group project in early 2009 which I headed as its Group CEO. In that case, the task was to activate three Newcos, of which one in Ground Handling and all its relevant functionalities in 40 Greek Airports within 5 months from February 2009 and one in a new Airline, Olympic Air, active in 60+  destinations, 40 in domestic Greece and 20+ internationally by September 29th of 2009 and with about 165 flights daily from day 1. All started up with complete success.

Michael’s department, of which he was the Deputy Director, delivered ALL their requirements in record time and in full and proper order to support all Ground, Flight Ops, Tech and Commercial functions of the New Airline Group, a highly visible project at the  time and extremely challenging by all accounts. The entire project at the time of its initiation in October 2009 and thereafter was judged a complete success by its shareholder Marfin Investment  Group, by the Greek Government, by the European Commission who were supervising all the process and most importantly, by the customers, as the Olympic Air Group achieved very high market share levels within 3-4 months of start-up.

In all that process, I was happy and privileged to have worked with Michael Zorbadakis, and the entire I.T. team. I have seen him work and deliver fully functioning systems of significant complexity under extreme pressure, and against significant odds, in a highly political,  publicly visible and important project with full success in the end.

I would fully recommend Michael for any managerial position of responsibility involving such systems and subsystems, in particular those requiring specialization and familiarity in Air Transport IT infrastructure, even more so for any applications in the challenging environment of Greece and Greek Airport infrastructure and would be certain of the quality and adequacy of the end result.

I would be happy to provide any further information that may be required for Michael Zorbadakis.

Sincerely,

Thanos Pascalis

Chief Operating Officer

I have known Michael for over 12 years from our association within Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air.

Michael and his team, part of the IT set-up within Olympic Air (a complete new airline (2009) that was tasked to fly day one with a fleet of 30 planes and over 230 daily flights with three types of aircraft, own web and GDS participation) successfully implemented the airline start up IT plan within a limited timeframe of 10 months. Michael is very knowledgeable in his field and definitely hard working. Apart from his positive cooperation with both the juniors to him and his reporting line he is both innovative and focused on task/project completion.

I would not hesitate to work with Michael again and certainly can recommend him without reservation.

On a personal note, Michael has proven to be a positive and constructive person who will be an asset to any organization.

Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me direct.
